The Traditional Irish Cob

(aka ‘The Piebald’)

There is no question that the iconic Traditional Cob of the 1990's was the original old-type piebald (true navy-black & white) Traditional Cob from Ireland (the Irish Cob), and which Irish Travellers therefore called ‘the Piebald’ before the Irish Cob Studbook was officially recognised in Ireland on 18 July 1996.  It is for this reason that TCR decided to protect the original old-type 1990s peibald Irish Cob, by honouring it with the distinction (title) Traditional Irish Cob. This does not in any way lessen any 1990's Irish Cobs of other colours, as they are still original old-type Irish Cobs.
