TCR 5-Star Grading Procedure

The TCR judge(s) will score the animal at a live grading using the TCR 5-Star Grading Sheet. 

STAR 1

Turnout & Handling
(Points 01-02 on TCR 5-Star Grading Sheet)
The exhibiter’s turnout will be scored, as well as how well the animal behaves and shows for the exhibitor.

STAR 2 

Condition & Presentation
(Points 03-04 on TCR 5-Star Grading Sheet)
The animal will be scored on its body condition, on the condition of its mane, tail and leg-feathering, and also on how well it is groomed. The animal will lose points if it is not exhibited in a suitable show bridle or head collar.

​​STAR 3

Breed/Type
(Points 05-08 on TCR 5-Star Grading Sheet)
The animal will be scored on the breed or type it most represents, and on its colour, topline and presence.

STAR 4

Conformation
(Points 09-20 on TCR 5-Star Grading Sheet)
The animal will be scored on its conformation and how well it conforms to its breed standard or type standard. The animal will lose points for conformation faults.

STAR  5

Movement
(Points 21-22 on TCR 5-Star Grading Sheet)
The animal will be scored on its movement at walk and trot. The exhibit’s trot should be normal or not over-exaggerated except for the Stepping Cob.
