Registration Tutorial

1. The Application

• Select Breed (Required)

You will be required to select the animal’s breed from the breed type (Purebred Traditional Cob) list provided under ‘Breed’ on the application. If the animal is a Part Bred Traditional Cob (Part Bred), select ‘No’ under ‘Purebred’ on the application.

NOTE: A Purebred Traditional Cob can also be a crossing of any of the breed types (Purebred Traditional Cobs) listed under ‘Breed’ on the application - such as an Irish Cob x Gypsy Cob.  

• ​​​Breeder Prefix (Optional)

​You will not be able to complete (fill) the Breeder Prefix field on the application (i.e. add your Breeder Prefix to the animal's Base Name) unless you are registered with TCR as a Breeder. 

To register as a Breeder with TCR, complete the TCR Prefix/Breeder Registration Application.

NOTE: While it is technically possible to include your Breeder Prefix as part of the animal’s Base Name - without registering as a Breeder with TCR, and therefore without registering your Breeder Prefix with TCR - your Breeder Prefix would not be protected and could therefore be used by another person registering an animal with TCR.

• Base Name (Required)

You will be required to give the animal a Base Name (e.g. ‘Bob’, ‘Blue Prince’, ‘Lady’, 'Bonny Girl', etc.). 

2. Complete Application

After completing step 1 (The Application), click ‘Proceed with Application’ to open the Details tab and complete the application.

When the Details tab is open, you will be required to provide the following ‘Missing Details’:

• ​Images

You will be required to upload the following four images of the animal (left-side, right-side, front-end, back-end). Because TCR will use the images to judge if the breed of the animal selected by you in step 1 (Select Breed) of the application is correct, and because the images will also be displayed on the animal's TCR online profile (and on the front cover of its TCR registration book if you ordered one), make sure that no part of the animal is out of view, hidden or obscured in the images, and that the animal is clean and standing correctly in the images.

• Microchip (EU and UK)

Because it is a legal requirement for an equine in the EU or UK to have a microchip, providing a microchip number on a TCR registration application is required if the animal named on the application is in the EU or UK. However, if the animal named on a TCR registration application is outside the EU or UK, then providing a microchip number on the application is optional. 

• Sex
• ​Colour
• ​Height (at maturity)
• ​Birth Date
• ​Birth Country

3. Add to Application (Optional)

After you have completed step 2 (Complete Application), you can add any of the following Optional Details to the application:

• DNA Profile

Click the DNA tab and then click the green Add DNA Profile bar to add the animal's DNA Profile (DNA profile number and DNA profiling laboratory) to the application.

NOTE: If you do not add the animal's DNA Profile (DNA profile number and DNA profiling laboratory) to the application, you can do so at any time after the animal is registered with TCR.

• ​Other Registrations

Click the Registrations tab and then click the green Add Registration bar to add another registry (that the animal is registered with) to the application.​

NOTE: If you do not add another registry (that the animal is registered with) to the application, you can do so at any time after the animal is registered with TCR.

• Pedigree

Read about TCR Pedigrees

Click the Pedigree tab and then click the green Add Pedigree bar to add the animal's pedigree to the application.

When you click the green Add Pedigree bar, select the pedigree type you wish to add from the following:

​​VERIFIED PEDIGREE

Covering Certificate
issued by TCR or another registry

​Registration/Pedigree Certificate
Issued by another registry

Parentage Test Certificate/Report
issued by a DNA laboratory

UNVERIFIED PEDIGREE

Verbal Pedigree
No pedigree verification certificate

NOTE: If you do not add the animal's pedigree to the application, you can do so at any time after the animal is registered with TCR. 

• Breeder

Click the Breeder tab and then click the green Add Breeder bar to add yourself or someone else as the breeder on the application.

NOTE: If you do not add the animal's breeder to the application, you can do so at any time after the animal is registered with TCR. ​

• ​Additional Owner

Click the Ownership tab and then click the green Add Owner bar to add another owner or owners to the application.

NOTE: If you do not add another owner to the application, you can do so at any time after the animal is registered with TCR. ​

• DNA Test Results​

Click the DNA Tab and then the green Add Test bar to add DNA test results to the application.

If the animal’s DNA profile (DNA profile number and DNA profiling laboratory) has not already been added, you will be required to add it before you can add DNA test results.

Once the animal’s DNA profile (DNA profile number and DNA profiling laboratory) has been added, you will be able to add any of the following DNA test results:

Parentage Test Result
PSSM/1 Test Result
FIS Test Result​
Colour Gene Test Result​
Height Gene Test Result

NOTE: If you do not add any DNA test results to the application, you can do so at any time after the animal is registered with TCR. ​

4. Review Application

​To review the application and make any necessary edits, click the Application tab.

5. Submit Application

Once you have reviewed the application and are satisfied with the information provided by you on the application, you will be required to read and agree to the TCR Terms & Conditions before you submit the application. 

• ​Payment

​Once you have submitted the application, you will receive an ‘Application Submitted’ message and the following list of TCR service and product fees:

Optional Service Fee Read More

​Registration/Pedigree Cert €15
Optional Product Fee Read More

​Registration Book €20
Optional Product Fee Read More

NOTE: In addition to the Required Service Fee, you can add any of the Optional Product Fees.

TCR will not request payment until after the animal has been accepted for TCR registration.
