In the EU and UK

Although TCR registration books are similar to EU and UK equine identification documents (aka equine passports in the EU and UK), they are not EU or UK equine identification documents. Where equines are in the EU or UK, they should therefore have EU or UK equine identification documents issued before they are issued TCR registration books. It is for this reason that TCR recommends TCR passport overstamp labels for equines in the EU or UK that have been issued EU or UK equine identification documents, even if they are issued TCR registration books. 

Outside the EU and UK

Although TCR registration books are not EU or UK equine identification documents (aka equine passports in the EU and UK), in countries outside the EU and UK, EU and UK equine identification documents have the same legal status as non-EU and non-UK equine identification documents.  For this reason, TCR registration books—which are similar to EU and UK equine identification documents—are ideal for equines outside the EU and UK.  However, where equines in the EU or UK were exported to countries outside the EU and UK with EU or UK equine identification documents, TCR recommends having TCR passport overstamp labels and/or TCR registration books issued for those equines.

​Ownership Labels

When issuing TCR registration books, TCR affixes TCR ownership labels (showing the owner's name and address) on the ‘Ownership’ page of the TCR registration books.
