The Traditional Cob Registry

The Traditional Cob Registry (TCR) was established in Ireland with the aim of preserving and protecting the Traditional Cob as an 'age old' breed native to Ireland and the UK. to this aim TCR created one worldwide online community based register for the Traditional Cobs of Ireland and the UK. TCR therefore registers Traditional Cobs under breed type names used for Traditional Cobs in their native lands of Ireland and the UK as follows: -

• Traditional Cob

• Mini Traditional Cob

• Irish Cob

• Traditional Irish Cob

• Gypsy Cob

• Traditional Gypsy Cob

Although the mother Irish Cob studbook is in Ireland and the mother Traditional Gypsy Cob is in the UK, because the TCR Traditional Cob register is independent (is not an EU or UK controlled) TCR can freely register Traditional Cobs under any of the Traditional Cob breed names used for Traditional Cobs in Ireland and the UK.

An independent registry

Although the mother Irish Cob studbook is in Ireland and the mother Traditional Gypsy Cob is in the UK, because the TCR is an independent registry and the TCR Traditional Cob register is therefore independent (is not EU or UK controlled) TCR can freely register Traditional Cobs under any of the Traditional Cob breed names used for Traditional Cobs in Ireland and the UK.

Does not issue passports

Although TCR is in Ireland and therefore in the EU where equine registration (having a passport for an equine) is a legal requirement TCR does not issue EU equine identification documents (passports). For this reason, a Traditional Cob that is in the EU should have a basic ID passport (a passport with no breed or pedigreed record) before it is issued a TCR registration book (a book with a breed and pedigree record).
