ONLINE GRADING

The online TCR Grading Application requires one Grading Image (photograph) and three Grading Videos to be uploaded.

NOTE: Although some owners may seek to argue that grading by image (photograph) and video assessment could not provide the same level of scrutiny ability as grading by live assessment, TCR online grading by image (photograph) and video assessment provides a safe, practical and economical way for owners anywhere in the world to have their TCR registered Irish and Gypsy Traditional Cobs graded. Grading is particularly important and valuable for TCR registered stallions and mares that are used for breeding.

TCR grading assessment is based on the following: -

Condition & Turnout

TCR will use the Grading Image (photograph) to assess the cob's body condition and also its turnout and presentation. Poor body condition and/or poor turnout and presentation causes lower grading scores.

Breed Representation

TCR will use Grading Video 1 to assess how well the cob represents it's Irish or Gypsy Traditional Cob breed type.

Conformation

TCR will use Grading Video 2 to asses the cob's general conformation. Conformation faults cause lower grading scores.

Movement

TCR will Grading Video 3 to assess the cob's movement at walk and trot. TCR grading is based on normal movement. Faulty movement action is caused by an underlying conformation fault. Although Irish and Gypsy type Traditional Cobs can have high knee action (also referred to as ‘step’) high knee action is more usual for the Gypsy type Traditional Cob.

TCR Grades

GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE rosettes will be awarded as virtual TCR grading rosettes on the TCR Grading Sheets. GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE rosettes will also be displayed as virtual rosettes on TCR Pedigrees.

PLATINUM is the highest TCR grading award. PLATINUM trophies will be awarded as virtual TCR grading trophies on TCR Grading Sheets. PLATINUM trophies will also be displayed as virtual trophies on TCR Pedigrees. To be eligible for TCR PLATINUM grading a TCR registered male (entire or gelded) or female must have reached s maturity (i.e. be at least six years of age) and must also have three GOLD grades that were awarded previously in three different years.
