About TCR

TCR does not issue EU equine identification documents (passports)

Although the Traditional Cob Registry (TCR) is located in the Republic of Ireland (ROI) and therefore in the European Union (EU) where equine identification registration (i.e. having a passport for an equine) is a legal requirement, TCR does not issue EU equine identification documents (passports). Because equine identification registration is an EU legal requirement, the authorities of the EU Member State are responsible for ensuring that equines in the EU have passports.

TCR provides an independent breed and pedigree registration service

Because equine breed and pedigree registration (i.e. registering an equine in a studbook) is not a legal requirement anywhere it is the right of every owner to decide where (and even if) they want to register the breed and pedigree of their equines. So, it is because equine breed and pedigree registration is optional (and is therefore a matter of choice) that TCR can freely provide an independent Irish and Gypsy Traditional Cob breed and pedigree registration service.
